Little Rock Friends Meeting gratefully acknowledges the Osage and Quapaw Peoples on whose ancestral homelands we gather, from which they were forcibly removed by our predecessors. We also acknowledge the diverse and vibrant Native communities who make their home in Central Arkansas today. As a community committed to diversity, we challenge ourselves to learn about the history, culture, and continued presence of Native Peoples in Central Arkansas. We also commit ourselves to celebrating Indigenous cultures, including arts, film, music, and literature. Acting on that commitment, we are contributing to the American Indian Center of Arkansas and the Sequoyah National Research Center.
The Little Rock Friends Meeting Acknowledgment Statement is an evolutionary process of learning and growth. We aspire to strengthen these commitments and welcome relevant wisdom and guidance.
