Collective art is an attempt to allow what is alive in each of us to to interact in a playful manner. Our practice is centered around four principles: unity, creativity, spontaneity and connectedness. We begin by gathering into groups of 2-5 and spending a short time coming into our “now-mind”, the mind of immediate experience—of sights, sounds, and feelings—letting go of judgments and commentary. It is from this present-mindedness that we allow our creativity to flow during our time together. We strive for interaction so that no mark or section of the paper can be claimed by any one person. We are guided by something that is beyond us and in the midst of us rather than by our own notions. We spend about an hour to an hour and a half together in this space before we let go and return for a few moments into the silence from which our practice emerged.
